What Does the Bible Say About Strength?

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

God specifically targets the weak — His strength is given where human strength runs out.

But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

Waiting on God is the pathway to renewed strength — not striving.

Yahweh is my strength and my shield. My heart has trusted in him, and I am helped. Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. With my song I will thank him.

Strength received from God becomes a source of joy and worship.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

God is not a strength we borrow — He is the strength itself, available right now.

He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

God's power shines brightest through our weakness — Paul learned to welcome it.

Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might.

The source is clear — not our might, but His.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

When everything in us gives out — God remains the eternal source.

Don't be grieved; for the joy of Yahweh is your strength.

Joy is not a mood — it is a source of genuine spiritual strength.

Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid?

God as our strength removes the foundation of fear.

Yahweh, the Lord, is my strength. He makes my feet like deer's feet, and enables me to go in high places.

Habakkuk found God's strength in national catastrophe — feet like deer on impossible heights.

I love you, Yahweh, my strength. Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

Strength is commanded here — because God's presence makes it possible.

Hope in God produces strength — they grow together.

Seek Yahweh and his strength. Seek his face forever more.

Seeking God is the means of receiving His strength — it is not automatic.

Yahweh will give strength to his people. Yahweh will bless his people with peace.

Strength and peace are paired gifts — God gives both to His people.

strengthened with all power, according to the might of his glory, for all endurance and perseverance with joy.

God's strength enables endurance and perseverance — with joy as its companion.

He said, 'Beloved man, don't be afraid. Peace be to you. Be strong. Yes, be strong.' When he spoke to me, I was strengthened.

God's word itself imparts strength — Daniel was strengthened by the angel's words.

God is my strong fortress. He makes my way perfect.

God is a fortress — a strong defense that provides stability and direction.

Blessed is the man whose strength is in you, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

The blessed man finds his strength in God — and keeps his eyes toward home.

Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
